Absolutely No Time

There is simply not enough tie in the day to do everything that needs to be done!

I had three days off over the hoiday weekend and a full list of projects, errands and chores to complete. Nothing got done! Can you believe that? I accomplished nothing. I spent most of my time doing Christmas'y things.

I need to train my body to not need sleep if I want to get anything accomplished.

Unix Resources

I started reading Unix for Mac OS X. This has lead to a few *Google* searches trying to find more information about certain issues. Here is a listing of notes, links and resources:

GREP

GREP, for a general explanation is the search function in UNIX. For example:

grep foo file

This returns all the lines that contain a string matching the expression "food" in the file "file".

A Life Less Boring

I wish I had something more interesting to blog about. Unfortunately, I spend most of my time about work and blogging about work is a major no-no.

Althought, this much I can say. I've saved quite a bit of money this holiday season from all of the food and goodies people are bringing to work. Potlucks, breakfast tacos, candy, baked goods, you name it. I haven't had to buy lunch all week. I'll probably have to fend for myself tomorrow, but I've save at leats $20 this week from eating free food.

Ephrain's new answer for everything catch phrase is "THE SHOCKA'!" It's kind of endearing and I've found myself proclaiming "shocka" a few times myself.

Since my brother-in-law Jason is going to be out of town for Christmas, we went to his house tonight and ate turkey and ham. I met one of Laura's friends who also works at my bank - small world. Liz is going to let Jason use her Element while Element is in the shop. I'm OK with that as long as he complies with two stipulations.

  • He lets me hold all of his Family Guy DVDs for collateral

  • He allows me to place one sticker of my choosing on his Element

Not too much to ask if you ask me - but who is?

New Set-up

During my lunch hour today I went to the Apple store at La Cantera. I picked up the Griffin iCurve and an Apple wireless keyboard. I'm hoping to keep my PowerBook as new as possible for as long as possible. With the iCurve and wireless keyboard I won't have to bang out my keyboard constantly and scrape my fingernails against the trackpad.

Also, as a secondary benefit, I'm more more comfortable sitting up and having my screen at eye level. I'm not hunched over my keyboard and trackpad for hours at a time. Instead, I'm sitting up very comfortably.

Christmas Shopping

I thought long and hard about driving to The Shops at La Cantera under the pretense of doing some Christmas shopping. Really, I wanted to go to the Apple store. My daughter loves to play with all of daddy's toys, including, but no limited to his Sony PSP, 17" G4 PowerBook, XBox, PS2, Palm Treo 650 and so on. For the sake of preserving my beloved (yeah, that's right, I said it) PowerBook, I wanted to buy an iCurve and an Apple wireless keybaord.

However, lethary prevailed and I stayed home to read Paul Stamatiou's blog. I'll probably head over tomorrow during lunch and pick up a couple of things. I've never been one to buy accessoriers for my computer. I hated paying for software and never even thought about buying a better keyboard or wireless mouse. But now that I'm a proud Mac owner, I'm always thinking about what I can buy to enrich my computing experience - not to mention thinking about buying other Macs.

I have to admit that I'm really interested in Windows Visa and that might force me to buy another Windows machine, but I'm still debating. I'm not doing any heavy computing at the moment and the PowerBook has done more than serve me well.

Oh, and to add one more thing, I'll be changing my website address one I register a domain name. Unfortunately, the one that I wanted is taken by Go Daddy, so I can go with another one or see about waiting until their registration runs out in 2007.
